From June 10 to 12, the 2026 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Technology, Products, and Achievements Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Carbon Expo”) was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
SKF showcased innovative solutions at the expo, including remanufactured bearings, the digital RecondOil SKF Oil Recycler, the R-IoT demonstration rig, and near-zero-carbon bearings. The company comprehensively presented its practical achievements in the fields of the circular economy, green manufacturing, and low-carbon innovation, leveraging technological innovation to drive the green transformation and upgrading of the industry.

A Century of Legacy
Continuously Deepening Its Presence in China
With the theme “Zero-Carbon Transformation, Empowering Factors,” this year’s expo brought together cutting-edge technologies, innovative products, and practical achievements in the green and low-carbon sectors, establishing a vital platform for exchange and cooperation to drive the green transformation of the economy and society.
SKF’s booth is located in the Huangpu exhibition area, a choice that resonates with the company’s deep-rooted history in Shanghai. As early as the 1920s, SKF established its first business operations in Shanghai’s Huangpu district. After more than a century of development, SKF has established its China and Northeast Asia headquarters, as well as its global R&D and technology center, in Huangpu, continuously deepening its presence in China.
In recent years, guided by a development philosophy that balances “smart” and “clean” initiatives, SKF has identified digitalization, the circular economy, and new materials innovation as its three pillars. The company is driving low-carbon transformation across the entire product lifecycle—from equipment operation to end-of-life—while actively participating in carbon footprint accounting and the development of green standards, thereby providing practical experience and innovative solutions for the industry’s green transition.
Four Major Innovations on Display
Showcasing Green Development Practices
At this year’s Carbon Expo, SKF showcased four representative achievements that provide innovative solutions for sustainable industrial development:
Remanufactured Bearings
Putting the Circular Economy into Practice
Compared to manufacturing new bearings, SKF’s remanufactured bearings can reduce the carbon footprint by up to 90% and consume only 10% of the energy required to produce new bearings. At the same time, they shorten delivery times and reduce material waste, helping customers achieve a win-win situation for both economic and environmental benefits.

Digital RecondOil SKF Oil Recycler
Promoting Oil Recycling
An intelligent solution that integrates nanoscale oil purification, real-time monitoring, and digital management. It provides 24/7 online purification to extend oil life, monitors key indicators such as moisture content, temperature, viscosity, cleanliness, and abrasive wear in real time, and synchronizes data to the cloud via 5G and Wi-Fi, helping customers improve overall lubrication standards and achieve centralized digital management.

Near-Zero Carbon Bearings
Exploring New Heights in Green Manufacturing
As a first in China, SKF’s near-zero-carbon bearings are manufactured entirely from scrap steel and produced using 100% renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions at the source. With a carbon footprint as low as 0.91 kg CO₂, they deliver a significant performance improvement, reducing friction by up to 70%. The product has received authoritative third-party certification, complies with international standards, and is available for global delivery, providing innovative solutions for corporate green transformation and the development of low-carbon supply chains.

Lightweight Ceramic Ball Bearings
Wings in the Sky
These bearings demonstrate that “ceramic balls” are lighter than conventional steel balls and offer insulation against electrical corrosion. In aerospace flight scenarios, they serve as a green “weapon” for reducing weight, increasing power density, extending service life, and minimizing maintenance time.
Collaborating for Progress
Moving Toward the Future
With a long-standing presence in China, SKF’s development has always been in sync with China’s industrial upgrading, continuously strengthening its foundation in the country.
SKF’s participation in the Carbon Expo is not only a showcase of its low-carbon technologies and solutions but also a vivid demonstration of its deep engagement in China’s green transition. Moving forward, SKF will continue to promote the coordinated development of digitalization, the circular economy, and green product R&D, empowering industrial system upgrades with more systematic low-carbon capabilities and contributing to the achievement of the “dual carbon” goals.
