Take advantage of the momentum

Accelerating the development of new energy vehicle industry

In the midst of the strong development trend of the global new energy vehicle industry, the development level of China's new energy vehicle industry is growing by leaps and bounds. According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2022, China's new energy vehicle production and sales will reach 7.058 million and 6.887 million units respectively, an increase of 96.9% and 93.4% year-on-year! The booming market is also demanding the production capacity, responsiveness and technical standards of new energy vehicle-related supporting facilities.

SKF has carried out the localization of the entire value chain from technology development to manufacturing, and fully realized the localized development and production of ceramic ball bearings and other products. The continuous breakthrough in mass production of ceramic ball bearings shows that our localization capability is recognized by our customers. SKF will always be driven by customer needs, accelerate technology and innovation, and inject acceleration into the development of the new energy vehicle industry.

Meeting the challenges

Building a comprehensive and complete value chain

From large vehicles to small bearings, the growing trend of electrification is driving accelerated innovation in all areas of the automotive industry. New energy vehicles have brought challenges to the bearing industry in terms of high speed, galvanic corrosion, high temperature, high load impact, vibration and noise, poor lubrication and so on. SKF ceramic ball bearings, in terms of performance, can meet the requirements of high speed, durability, anti-corrosion and silence, helping the electric drive system to run more robustly and efficiently, providing strong support for the smooth operation of new energy vehicles.

In order to guarantee a stable supply of high-precision ceramic ball bearings, SKF not only develops and produces them locally, but also deploys an all-round complete value chain from raw material supply, to sintering and grinding, to inspection equipment and standards, in order to meet the precise and high requirements of the industry.

SKF Ceramic Ball Bearings

Rooted in China

Local supply chain to meet the demand for increased quantity and quality

With roots in China for more than 100 years, SKF has established several plants in Xinchang, Ningbo, Changshan, Wuhu, Jinan and Shanghai. With the rapid development of the domestic new energy vehicle market, SKF continues to expand and increase its presence in China.

Since 2020 SKF has been vigorously promoting the production of ceramic ball bearings and the localization of the industrial chain; in 2021 SKF's Xinchang ball bearing production base began mass production of ceramic ball bearings, achieving a high output of 500,000 pieces in just one year, and the sufficient production capacity will provide worry-free protection for the majority of customers in the new energy vehicle sector. On the basis of ensuring high production capacity, the Xinchang ball bearing base in 2022 also designed and delivered a variety of sample parts according to customer demand, which will be practically applied to new energy vehicle products in the future to promote the innovative development of the industry.
